Fireworks
Many species of animals have extremely sensitive hearing. We may be enjoying the celebration and firework displays, but our animals are suffering. The loud sounds that accompany the 4th of July, may cause a great deal of confusion, fear, and anxiety for our animal friends. The result of these explosions may lead to long-term psychological fears, serious injury, heart problems, and even death for animals.
Steps to ensure the safety of animal on this holiday:
- Make sure your pets tags are on and visible
- Keep your animals indoors if possible
- Make sure all fences and gates are closed and if an animal must be stabled, do so.
If you know that your animal is prone to becoming distressed, you may discuss sedatives with your vet. Also, let your neighbors know if you will be setting off your own fireworks. Lastly, clean up any firework refuse, because it is harmful to animals.
